Distinguished Teaching Award

This award program was initiated to encourage and reward excellence in teaching on the Berkeley campus. 232 faculty members from 52 departments have been recognized for distinguished teaching since 1959.

The 2010 Distinguished Teaching Award Ceremony will be held on April 22, 2010.

Educational Initiatives Award

Recipients of the 2008 EIA

The Educational Initiatives Award is an award presented annually to a department or unit on the Berkeley campus in recognition of distinctive contributions to undergraduate education. Designed to complement the campus's Distinguished Teaching Award for individual faculty, the Educational Initiatives Award is presented to a department, unit, or group of faculty that has created an outstanding program or initiative that has had a sustained impact upon undergraduate education and can serve as a workable model for others on campus.

The 2009 American Cultures Innovation in Teaching Award

This award is intended to recognize the use of pedagogical developments to enhance the students’ learning experience in the American Cultures classroom. We especially encourage the submission of applications from faculty who have created innovative teaching practices that specifically focus on the particularities of the American Cultures requirement.


The 2009 American Cultures Student Research Prize

The American Cultures Center is pleased to announce the American Cultures Student Research Prize. This prize recognizes a standard of excellence created in scholarship which fits with the core intention of the American Cultures curriculum - to create scholarship which promotes the understanding of race, ethnicity, and culture, in a comparative and integrative fashion.
