The Committee on Teaching has selected four faculty members to be recipients
of the Distinguished Teaching Award for 2001. They are Sara Beckman, Senior
Lecturer, Haas School of Business; Carolyn Bertozzi, Associate Professor,
Chemistry; Seda Chavdarian, Lecturer, French, and Ronald Gronsky, Professor,
Materials Science and Engineering.
The award, given annually by the Committee on Teaching of the Berkeley Division of the Academic Senate since 1959, recognizes excellence in teaching at the University of California, Berkeley. The recipients of the Distinguished Teaching Award will be honored at a ceremony on Wednesday, April 25, at 5 pm in Zellerbach Playhouse. Also honored will be the recipients of the Educational Initiatives Award. The ceremony features remarks by Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Paul Gray, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Christina Maslach, and Alumni Association President Alfredo Terrazzas. The public is invited to the ceremony and the reception that follows in the Toll Room of the Alumni House.
